Bases of Operation

Operating Across Nunavut, Manitoba, and the Northwest Territories

Keewatin Air operates from seven bases across Nunavut, Manitoba, and the Northwest Territories.

Manitoba

Winnipeg, Manitoba

Winnipeg, Manitoba

Winnipeg is home to both the administrative offices and heavy maintenance operations that support our Nunavut and Manitoba operations. Within the Winnipeg office, there is also the Shell Aviation services FBO and most of the EIC family of aviation companies that fly their charters out of this facility.

Churchill, Manitoba

Churchill, Manitoba

Our Churchill base was established to strengthen Keewatin Air's Nunavut operations as the expansive and harsh Nunavut environment challenges aviation throughout the years. Keewatin Air's infrastructure is in the form of a heated hangar, which is capable of accommodating two King Air 200 type aircraft. There is one King Air based there dedicated 24/7 to air ambulance operations.

Thompson, Manitoba

Thompson, Manitoba

In support of our specialty government transport contracts with the Province of Manitoba, we have constructed a passenger terminal and AME Base in Thompson, MB, located at the Thompson Airport. The facility was formed by repurposing a construction field office which now contains a passenger lounge, storage facilities, washroom, and maintenance/flight coordinator office. The facility was opened in August 2019.

Northwest Territories

Yellowknife, Northwest Territories

Yellowknife, Northwest Territories

As part of our Kitikmeot service package, Keewatin Air established an AMO base at the Yellowknife International Airport in 2017. The heated hangar has space for up to two King Airs, as well as maintenance, flight planning, and flight coordination offices, as well as additional equipment and stores to support our operations. Along with King Air aircraft, one of our Cessna Citation 560 Ultra Turbojet Aircraft frequently visits this base to support operations and service agreements.

Nunavut

Igloolik, Nunavut

Igloolik, Manitoba

Our newest medevac base is located in Igloolik, Nunavut, where we have constructed a 650 square metre (6,996 square foot) hangar in the spring of 2019. The facility is located at the Igloolik Airport. We house up to two aircraft, and 5 staff at the facility. The construction of the facility involved repurposing sea containers (sea cans) in order to construct the main walls and office space of the facility, as well as sleeping quarters, common rooms, and cleaning facilities.

Iqaluit, Nunavut

Iqaluit, Nunavut

Our base in Iqaluit is a 20,000 sq ft modern hangar and office complex. Here we house and maintain a fleet which includes four Cessna Citation 560 Ultra jets, a minimum of two King Air B200 twin engine turboprops, and a Pilatus PC-12 single engine turboprop aircraft.

Rankin Inlet, Nunavut

Rankin Inlet, Nunavut

Keewatin Air started their operation in Rankin Inlet in 1971. We still hold a substantial investment in infrastructure there in the form of two heated hangars, a 10-unit apartment complex, and two houses. There are two King Airs based there dedicated 24/7 to air ambulance operations.

Cambridge Bay, Nunavut

Cambridge Bay, Nunavut

In support of our medevac operations in the arctic, Keewatin Air acquired space for a heated facility and maintenance storage at Cambridge Bay, Nunavut in 2017.
